The Model RS-DAQ Controller is a
microprocessor-based standalone system integrator that controls both the Model S48D
Illumination Source and the Model D48 Detector Module. The Controller interfaces with
these components as part of a complete multiwavelength fluorescence system. It can
be programmed via a keypad or by RS-232 download. This highly versatile controller
supports machine control, pulse counting and analog data acquisition. For a more general
discussion of this product, refer to our Product Overview page.
Features
- This versatile controller will operate the Model S48D Illumination Source and Model D48
Detector Module, either separately or together. All modes of filter wheel
control (Single, Multi and Mixed) are supported.
- It can be programmed using the front panel keypad or
by RS-232 commands. Prompts for keypad programming are provided by a backlit LCD display.
- The Controller can be used to collect data from a
photomultiplier (TTL pulse counting) and 8 analog channels. Data is sent to a host
computer via the RS-232 port. With software, this controller will operate as a
complete multiwavelength fluorescence and analog data acquisition system.
- After programming, wavelength filter switching and
data acquisition can be implemented by a single TTL input or by RS-232 control. This
makes integration of this Controller into existing fluorescence systems a snap!
- A monitor port is provided to monitor the position of
the filter wheel in the Model S48D Illumination Source and Model D48 Detector Module. This is convenient for precisely
synchronizing external events to wavelength filter changes.
- Provides a convenient method to add components to a
fluorescence imaging system in manner that will not drain computer resources from the
imaging system.
Programming
- A simple programming syntax is provided for RS-232
programming. The following simple program will set the excitation filter wheel and
light attenuator wheel in the Model S48D Illumination Source and the emission filter wheel
in the Model D48 Detector Module to fixed positions:
InitializeSystem()
WheelIndex(ExEmNd,0,0,0)
WheelFixed(ExEmNd,8,4,4,3,100)
ResetMotor()
- RS-232 programming can be accomplished using any
programming environment (Lab Windows, Lab View, Visual Basic, Visual C++, etc.).
RS-232 commands can also be sent to the Controller using a Terminal Emulation
program. C&L Instruments can provide complete Windows-based data acquisition
software for this controller.
- A driver for LabVIEW is available. This driver
allows the user to assume complete control of our Model S48D
Illumination Source and Model D48 Detector Module for
instrument control and data acquisition using this popular graphical programming language
developed by National Instruments Corporation. Contact C&L Instruments for further details and
availability.
