The Model D48 Detector Module contains a photomultiplier, optics, filter wheel and power supply in a compact assembly (7.5 inches wide X 6 inches high X 13 inches deep) designed for multiwavelength photon counting.   It weighs 13.5 pounds. Overview

• The D48 detection module incorporates a photomultiplier operating in the photon-counting mode and a filter wheel for selection of the detection wavelength.
• The detector module accepts light from a light guide which interfaces to either the Model CV1 Cuvette Module or to your fluorescence microscope using a microscope output accessory.
• The Detector Module is controlled using the Model PC-DAQ PC Controller. The controller interacts with the Detector Module through software residing on your personal computer. Together, the software, PC-DAQ PC Controller and the Model D48 Detector Module function as a complete multiwavelength data acquisition system.
• Modular design permits its use with other illumination sources to implement multiwavelength photon counting.  It is an ideal add-on to imaging systems for versatile fluorescence quantitation.

Modes of control

• The operation of the Model S48D is controlled through software.  Several operation modes are selectable to permit numerous protocols from single wavelength measurements to multiwavelength measurements.  Together with the Model S48D Illumination Source, all combinations of single and multiwavelength excitation and emission protocols are available.
• Jitter of the filter wheel when spinning is <0.5 percent (RMS) of the filter aperture time.
• Time to reposition filter wheel from one stationary position to any other stationary position is < 60 milliseconds for an 8 position filter wheel.

Accessible filter wheel

• The Detector Module holds either a 4 or 8 position filter wheel.  The 4 position wheel uses 1 inch diameter filters, while the 8 position wheel uses 1/2 inch diameter filters. 
• The filter wheel is easily removed from Model D48 to make rapid filter wheel changes possible.
• Additional filter wheels can be purchased and configured for special wavelength combinations.

Internal Shutter

• An internal shutter is provided.
• The shutter is controlled by software.

Sensitive End-On Photomultiplier

• A magnetically shielded end-on PMT is standard.
• Both bialkali and multialkali PMT versions are available.
• The output is linear to 20M Counts/sec.
• The PMT output is directly available as TTL counts for easy interface to the PC-DAQ Controller or other counting devices.  Contact us for interface specifications.
